Shakespeare’s Women / MAC

As part of the Sound Shore Shakespeare Festival the Museum of Arts & Culture will present “Shakespeare’s Women,” a juried art show of works in a variety of media, all inspired by the female characters who appear in the work of William Shakespeare. Awards and prizes will be presented at an opening reception Friday, April 8th at 6 pm. The show will be open to the public for a month from April 8th to May 6th. The MAC is a program of the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence and is open to the public Mondays through Fridays, 9 am to 3 pm, and Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 pm. For details visit www.dbmac.org.

Enhancing the MAC’s exhibit, the Knighthorse Theatre Company will be in residence at Isaac E. Young Middle School on April 7th and at New Rochelle High School on April May 8th , conducting workshops for students. Knighthorse will offer two public performances of “Shakespeare On Demand,” an interactive event during which audience members choose which plays they want to see, and the actors perform scenes from those plays. (With two actors and 38 plays, each performance is unique because the audience selects what they want to see.) “Shakespeare On Demand” will be performed Friday evening April 8th at 7:30 pm and Saturday evening April 9th at 7:30 pm in the Linda Kelly Theatre at NRHS. Tickets cost $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors, with all proceeds benefiting the Museum of Arts & Culture. Visit www.dbmac.org for details.
